School of Natural Sciences at NUI Galway_Ireland
The School of Natural Sciences was formed in 2007 and is the largest School in the College of Science. The School comprises the five Disciplines: Biochemistry, Botany and Plant Science, Earth and Ocean Sciences, Microbiology, Bacteriology, and Zoology. All Disciplines have a strong tradition in excellence in research and teaching. In total, over 150 staff members, about 1500 undergraduate and 170 postgraduate students (MSc & PhD) are part of the School of Natural Sciences.

Within the School, research spans all levels of biological organization, from molecular and cell biology, through research at the organismal level, to the study of populations, communities and ecosystems, with integrated links to geoscience and energy-related research. To achieve excellence in research and teaching in these areas, many researchers of the School of Natural Sciences are based in or otherwise linked to two of NUIG's Research Institutes; the National Centre for Biomedical Engineering Science (NCBES) & the Ryan Institute for Environmental, Marine & Energy Research

The Centre for Chromosome Biology (CCB) at NUI Galway in Ireland

The Centre for Chromosome Biology (CCB) at NUI Galway in Ireland hosts an interactive network of researchers investigating topics linked to the biology of genomes.
We are interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying chromosome replication, segregation, repair, evolution, chromatin regulation and transcription. These processes are fundamental to our growing understanding of genetics and epigenetics, and have important implications for cancer and disease.

The Centre currently comprises 11 groups with over 90 researchers and support staff. We have a range of technologies available for studying chromosome biology at the molecular, cellular and organismal level.
