i have to disagree with samsam. the one-year MSc programs in sweden typically comprise of 40 credits course work as well as 20 credits thesis. . on the other hand, the typical requirement for admission to a phd position in sweden is potentail for being admitted to postgradute education which typically means formally you can apply for a PhD even with a BSc. BUTTT,, getting phd admission to a good university in sweden from outside sweden specially from iran is almost impossible.

No dear. It's not as easy as you say. Even in the US when you are accepted in PhD from the Bachelor level, you have to pass some further courses which in time is equal to the situation when you apply by your master degree (I mean that don't think that when you apply after BS or after one year master to the PhD, you are 2 years or one year ahead!! because you have to pass the courses that a MS student has passed. you can't run away from it. )
And also be sure that in all countries MS graduates are preferred to one year master or students with bachelor degree for the PhD positions.

after a couple of years of living and working in sweden, i think i should know better than you. you can keep your ideas, but please don't spread them around as rumors. there are people here who rely on this information to make a life chaging decision.

As far as your past experience is concerned, I would like to ask you a question regarding getting admission in PhD.
I have already completed my M.Sc. in Computer Science(2 years) in India and as it was a course work Master Degree I have applied for another master degree(one year/Halmstad University) in order to robust my background, to get familiar with research approaches and to open the doors for doing PhD in Sweden. Do you think I am going to increase my chances of being admitted over there or it is just wasting of time as Samsam says?
Also it is to say that I have submitted a research proposal in University of Malaya(Malaysia) and can directly pursue my PhD over there. But personally I believe and prefer to continue my studies in Europe. what do you think?

My brother lives in Sweden for about 5 years. I have precise information. If you were right so nobody would study 2 years MS. Why someone should do this if there isn't any difference between 1 year master and 2 year master..

a one year master program in areas like MBA, project managemnet,...is not only typical in sweden but the whole europe. no body goes for an MSc in ECE which is one year of course, since there exists no MSc in sweden like that but MSc in economy, management,... is quite typical in europe. don't believe it search for the top MBA programs in Europe and check the length of program then come back here with more solid information.

I don't know about management or economic. I just talk about engineering fields, and I am sure about them

در تایید نوشته های zapata باید بگویم که من فایل pdf رشته خودم رو که یک ساله هستش از سایت دانشگاه دانلود کردم و در اون نوشته 45 واحد مربوط به دروس کلاسی میشه و 15 واحد مربوط به پایان نامه و همینطور نوشته اتمام فوق لیسانس یک ساله خودش مجوز ورود به دوره دکترا محسوب میشه. همینطور در تایید گفته دیگر جناب zapata ، گرفتن فوق چه یکساله چه دو ساله در هر رشته ای در سوئد کلا یعنی پذیرفته شدن در دوره دکترا، اما اگه کسی فوق لیسانسو از یک دانشگاه خارجی مثل ایران گرفته باشه، شانسش برای پذیرش در دوره دکترا در سوئد خیلی کمه. در مورد فرق فوق لیسانس یک ساله (Magisterexamen) و دوساله (Masterexamen) در سایت رسمی studyinsweden بخوانید:

میبینید که نوشته شده در ابتدا تمام مدراک فوق لیسانسها در سوئد یک ساله بوده اما بعداً مجوز مدارک دو ساله نیز به برخی دانشگاهها داده شده. ضمناً این درسته که این یکی دوسال طول میکشه و 120 واحده و اون یکی یک سال و 60 واحد، اما فرقی از نظر ارزش با هم ندارند و تنها فرقشون همون مدت زمانه، در ضمن 120 ECTS یا واحد جدید اروپایی معنیش این نیست که تعداد درسها دو برابر رشته 60 واحدی هستش، بلکه در این سیستم جدید ارزشیابی، یک واحد ،ترکیبی از درس و مدت زمانه و مثل واحدهای درسی ما فقط گذراندن دروس نیست. من قبلا برای MBA توی خیلی از سایتهای دانشگاهای اروپایی سرچ میکردم، خوندم که این رشته در اروپا (به خصوص اروپای غربی) معمولا یک ساله هستش، اما آمریکاییها اعتقاد دارند که یک سال مدت زمان کمی برای این رشته هست و برای کسب تجربه کاری بیشتر در دوران تحصیل این رشته، باید مدت زمان دو سال رو بهش اختصاص داد، به هر حال ارزش تحصیلی هر دو نوع مدرک برای پذیرش در دوره بعدی (دکترا) یکسان هستش. این فایل pdf هم مطالب راجع به فوق لیسانس یک ساله و دو ساله در سوئد نوشته و تصدیق میکنه که در ابتدا همه رشته های فوق در سوئد یکساله بودن:
