PhD Position in Bioinformatics/ Developmental Biology at University of Copenhagen
The Bioinformatics Centre, University of Copenhagen is recruiting one PhD student to work on gene regulation transcriptomics projects in the Albin Sandelin research group, with a focus on mainly computational work. The Sandelin group is a joint computational/experimental group focusing on gene regulation and core promoters. The Bioinformatics Centre employs around 25 researchers, and has many international connections to high-profile groups. The groups are housed in the newly built Biocenter in central Copenhagen, Denmark. This position will be funded by grants from the Novo Nordisk Foundation and the Lundbeck Foundation.

Requirements:
We are seeking highly motivated individuals with a Master´s degree in bioinformatics/ computational biology or equivalent.
We strongly require documented experience in programming script language such as Python or Perl, linux/unix systems, statistics using R and high-throughput data analysis.
It is a large advantage if the candidate has experience in computational promoter analysis and analysis 5´ tag data.
Aside from this, a background in biology or biomedicine is a strong advantage, as is laboratory experience.
Fluency in spoken and written English is a strong requirement.
The main criterion for selection will be the research potential of the applicant and the above mentioned skills.
The applications will be evaluated by an expert in the field, to select those that qualify for the position. Each applicant will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns her/him as well as the name of the expert. The successful applicant will be enrolled as a PhD student at the Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen.
Assesment:
An assessment committee will be appointed to evaluate the applications. Applicants will be notified of the composition of the committee and will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns her/him. The final selection of a successful candidate will be made by Albin Sandelin and head of department, based on the recommendations of the assessment committee. The successful candidate will then be requested to formally apply for enrolment as a PhD student at the PhD school of Science, University of Copenhagen. Candidates expecting to finish their master thesis before this date are also eligible to apply.
We Offer:
Terms of appointment and payment are in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Federation of Professional Associations (AC). The starting salary for candidates with an MSc degree will be a minimum of DKK 309,179 per year (April 2011 level) plus pension contribution DKK 42,243 and the possibility to negotiate wage.
