Multiple Ph.D. positions with generous financial support are available for qualified applicants at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX under the supervision of Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering,
Dr. Ali Heydari.
The research focus is on Controls and Robotics. Particular interest will be on utilizing nonlinear control methods (Sliding Mode, MPC, etc.) or intelligent control methods (Neural Networks, Fuzzy Logic, etc.) for controlling different dynamical systems, including network of robots, human-inspired robots, and flying vehicles.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have both MS and BS degrees in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering. Moreover, the following qualifications are required:
1- Strong MATLAB programming skills. 2- Strong academic background. 3- Strong problem solving skills. 4- Serious interest in research. 5- Strong mathematical background is a plus. 6- Good research record is a plus.
