    Postdoctoral Fellow in Materials Science

    The University of Stavanger invites applications for a 2-years position as Postdoctoral Fellow in materials science at the Faculty of Science and Technology in the Department of Mechanical and Structural Engineering and Materials Science. The position is vacant from 01.01.2015.
    The position is funded by the Department of Mechanical and Structural Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Stavanger.

    The position is in the field of materials science, focusing on using transmission electronmicroscopy (TEM) for microstructural characterization of metallic structural materials for applications in offshore technology or in mechanical / structural engineering.

    The research project is one of: microstructure examination of welding zones between duplex stainless steels; welding zones between duplex stainless steel and different steel qualities (e.g. Inconel); examinations of metallic materials produced by 3D printing (additive manufacturing) or closely related topics.
    The applicant must have extensive practical experience with various transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques, including electron diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) and high resolution electron microscopy (HREM). The post holder should work mainly with our new JEOL 2100 TEM instrument and also be responsible for demonstration and teaching others in use of the microscope.
    The objective of the position is to strengthen research in materials science and to give researchers/scholars with doctorates within relevant academic field(s) opportunities for further qualification toward full professorship.
    At the time of appointment applicants must possess a PhD in materials science or in a closely related subject such as physics or chemistry. The evaluation will consider the applicant's potential for research in the field, as well as the individual prerequisites for the position. Potential candidates will be invited to an interview.
    Qualifications within the areas of creativity, innovation and commercialization of research may also be given emphasis in appointments to academic positions at the university.
    The research project will be carried out at the University of Stavanger. It is assumed that the appointee will work full time on the project and that she/he will participate in the scholarly circles at the faculty and the university.
    The position is salaried according to the State Salary Code, l.pl 17.510, code 1352, lr 24, ltr 57 of NOK 482 800 per annum.
    The position provides for automatic membership in the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund, which guarantees favorable retirement benefits. Members may also apply for home investment loans at favorable interest rates.

    The research group of Design and Simulation of Composites Structures at IMDEA Materials,

    Fellow in the field of multiscale computational mechanics of advanced composites. Candidates
    with strong background knowledge on computational damage mechanics, model development,
    and numerical simulation of advanced composite materials and structures are strongly
    encouraged to apply. Experience in experimental mechanical testing of composites is highly
    valued.
    The postdoctoral fellow will work in a vibrant multinational research group, composed of
    researchers, post-doctoral researchers, PhD and MSc students, in the framework of research
    projects in the field of Aeronautics.

    - Solid background in computational mechanics of advanced composite materials.

    دانشگاه Texas A&M اخیرا دانشکده مواد راه انداخته که بخیلی سریع در حال توسعه است. در همین چند سال اخیر تعداد زیادی اساتید قوی جذب دپارتمان شدند و بزودی مقطع لیسانس رو هم اضافه میکنند که باعث میشه فرصتهای TA زیادی فراهم بشه. دانشجویانی که بخصوص GRE بالایی دارند حتما اپلای کنند. GRE ظاهرا براشون خیلی مهمه.
