Ph.D. scholarship: Flow at the sediment-water interface, School of Environmental Systems Engineering, University of Western Australia
The fluid mechanics of the sediment-water interface is not well understood, limiting the ability of water quality models to predict nutrient and contaminant concentrations in both freshwater and marine systems. This project will employ a detailed and innovative experimental program to characterise the flow field and the rate of vertical mixing at the sediment-water interface. This project is linked to an existing ARC Discovery grant; an outline of the proposal written for this grant is available here.
Requirements/Eligibility
Applications are invited from both Australian and international students. Applicants should possess an honours degree (or equivalent) in environmental engineering or related fields (including environmental science, civil/mechanical/chemical/coastal engineering and physics).
Please send a cover letter describing your research interests and experience, a CV and the names of two referees toAssociate Professor Marco Ghisalberti.
