Post Doctoral Position: investigating higher-order cognitive control capacities in three species of nonhuman primates – capuchin monkeys, rhesus monkeys, and chimpanzees and in human adults and children

The topics of investigation include metacognition, planning, prospective memory, and self-control in these species. Research methods include computerized testing and manual testing of species. Strong candidates will have demonstrated their ability to be independent, productive researchers.
The preferred candidate will possess relevant and working knowledge of the following,
Ph.D. in experimental psychology, cognitive psychology, or primate behavior/cognition with an emphasis on comparative approaches to cognition
Expertise in behavioral methods for use with nonhuman primates
Experience working with animals in psychological and behavioral studies (outside of a medical setting and animal shelters)
Experience working with chimpanzees, rhesus macaques and/or capuchin monkeys in cognitive/behavioral settings
Experience working with human children
Experience writing applications for federally-funded research
Experience with programming in Visual Basic or a similar programming language
Expertise in a variety of statistical methods, including non-parametric statistics
Strong proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint, Microsoft Word, and SPSS
