Research TopicThis Ph.D will focus on investigation of a new approach to information retrieval particularly suitable for search of unstructured multimodal content. Efficient search of content of this type is challenging due to its temporal nature and the difficulty in forming queries which succinctly and specifically describe the user’s information need.This post is within the "Platform Theme D: Interacting with Global Content" of the SFI-funded ADAPT centre at Dublin City University. This theme focuses on empowering people to interact with digital content in intuitive ways that mimic the richness of human perception in interaction.

RequirementsThe successful candidate will have an excellent academic record (first class or II.1 primary degree or a postgraduate qualification, e.g. M.Sc.) in Computer Science or a related discipline. A good knowledge of one or more of, interactive information retrieval, natural language processing systems, or interactive dialogue systems, is highly desirable. They will be highly motivated, with strong written and oral communication skills and a demonstrated proficiency in software development, with strong design and programming skills. They must be eager to work in and learn from multi-disciplinary and multi-organisation teams. They should have English language certification if English is not their first language, the requirement being: IELTS: 6.5+, TOEFL iBT: 92+, TOEFL pBT: 580+, or equivalent (Please visit:
