Job description
The position will be focused on image analysis of different types of medical imaging data from patients with tumours. The goal is to develop new techniques for evaluating the effect of cancer treatment as early as possibly, in order to optimise the treatment for each individual patient. The doctoral student will be part of a collaborative team comprising researchers at STH as well as researchers in oncology and medical radiation physics at Karolinska Institute (KI), with supervision from both environments. There may be a possibility to be part of KTH’s and KI’s joint doctoral programme in medical technology.In addition to your doctoral studies, you will be expected to teach or perform other department duties up to 20% of full-time. Qualifications
The applicant should hold a Master’s of Science degree or a similar degree which fulfills the entry requirements for doctoral studies at KTH. A high level of competence is needed in medical image processing, and good knowledge of mathematics and programming. Experience of machine learning techniques and segmentation of tumours is an advantage.In addition to technical skills, the applicant is expected to have curiosity in the research field, be ambitious and strongly motivated to work with research. He or she should be able to work independently in a structured manner both individually and as part of a team. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are a requirement.
