details
Description: The antenna research team of ESAT-TELEMIC has a long experience in the fundamental electromagnetic modeling of planar and quasi-3D structures, mainly antennas, in a multilayer of dielectrics and conductors. In cooperation with JET in the UK, and in close contact with the Royal Military Academy in Belgium, the team is opening a research line where this expertise is used for the study, analysis, and design of Ion-Cylotron Resonance Heating antennas. The Ph.D. will consist of two parts. The study of the metal antenna as such, and the study of the antenna embedded within a plasma environment. Basic knowledge in electromagnetics is mandatory. Antenna knowledge is fruitful. Background knowledge or previous studies/courses in the field of plasma physics is highly beneficiary for the position. Not only engineers, but also physicists may apply.
