Hi, level of the words you need to know will not decrease at all, after all these are common words of English you will need to know even if you're watching movies! (believe it or not) so no matter when you take the test you need stuff like Barron's 3500 for utter success.
But number of questions that need all-out word knowledge will decrease significantly> no antonym and also no analogy anymore , and they will be relying on your reading comprehension abilities even more. Good for me but not for everyone probably!
I suggest you to take bigbook tests in 2 half (7 SC + 11 RC = 18) + (9 Analogy + 11 Antonym = 20), and try to answer each of these sections in a timely manner; based on my experience you will need about:
22min out 30min of a current test for the first 18Qs
08min out 30min of a current test for the second 20Qs.
Try that and see which is better!
Future tests will be like taking the 18Q/22M of current tests.
PBT scores will not change I guess (it is a little confusing on ETS site) but CBT scores will change, having said that, certainly there will be some score conversion tables just like for current TOEFL PBT and iBT tests!
Good Luck
