Rensselaer Financial Aid Response to Economic Conditions
Rensselaer To Add $5 Million in Scholarship Funds for Students
The state of the world economy has been on the mind of many prospective college students. I want to assure you that as the nation’s preeminent research university for scientific discovery and technological innovation, Rensselaer will continue to provide the support for students regardless of their means, even during the harshest economic challenges. In addition to the more than $80 million the university currently spends in scholarship aid, an additional $5 million has been planned to meet any increased need by students in the future. These funds will be available for families who may experience increased financial hardship, today or in the future.
Rensselaer is committed to making college affordable:
More than 90% of Rensselaer students receive scholarship aid
All Rensselaer applicants are considered for merit scholarships, with no additional forms
All applicants are assigned a financial aid counselor to guide them through need-based funding
Rensselaer Medalists are guaranteed $60,000 scholarship (over four years)
Undergraduates can receive an additional year of aid to pursue a master’s degree while completing their bachelor’s degree through our recently announced co-terminal program
RPI alumni are leaders in every industry; in fact, we were recently named to Forbes’ list of schools with the highest-earning graduates. The generosity of Rensselaer alumni has been instrumental in the Institute reaching a $1.4 billion fundraising goal earlier this month – with an emphasis on alumni-funded scholarships. Rensselaer will continue to invest in need-based and merit-based aid to support the education of our outstanding students.
