Second, our funding offer is essentially independent of which project you choose. Scott and I can support any of the categories listed, and really, anything related to rheology and microstructures that fits well with our research program. So please don't worry about that. What we've put together in that list are projects that we think are timely, important, and can be done in the timeframe of a PhD. But there are certainly other possibilities.
And yes, the funding would be $18000-20000 per year as your paycheck. I am not sure what taxes you would have to pay, but those would come out of that income. That amount is the normal amount our graduate students receive, and it is sufficient to live on. We will also pay for health insurance, fees, and tuition.
