نظرسنجی در مورد ایمیل های دریافتی از اساتید

سلام دوستان
من قرار بود با یه استاد ایرانی تو آمریکا کار کنم که از طریق ایمیل باهم در ارتباط بودیم .این استاد بهم گفته بود که وضعیت فاندم تا اوسط تابستون مشخص میشه واسه همین من اپلیکیشنمو دیفر کردم واسه اسپرینگ.ولی هنوز تکلیفه فاندش مشخص نشده.به خاطر همین منو به یه استاد دیگه آمریکایی معرفی کرده و اون استاد آمریکایی ایمیل زیر رو واسم فرستاد.

فقط گفته اپلای نکردی اپلای کن هیچ چیزی ازم نپرسیده . منم گفتم اپلای کردم قبلا!.جالبه که تو پروفایلش نوشته که عضو graduate committeeهست.یعنی کمیته پذیرش دیگه درسته؟استاد ایرانی بهم گفت که من با این استاد پروژه های مشترک دارم و معلومه رابطشون خوبه باهم ولی نمیدونم منظورش اینه که اوکی داده یا مشخص نیست اکسپتم میکنه یا نه؟

I think the only person that might be qualify to answer to your question is the american professor!
But if you are asking about your chance for getting admission, your chance should be high. The second professor didnt ask you anything, because the first professor already introduced you to him/her, so those info are much more valuable that what you may share with him/her.
As you already applied for their program, there is no decision making in this step fro you for this university, and you just can wait to see what will happen. It is recommended to keep in touch with your first professor.
Graduate committee doesn't necessarily mean admission committee, but in some universities they might be the same.

من به تازگی به یکی از اساتید کانادا که خودشون در پروفایلشون اعلام کرده بودن که دانشجوی دکترا نیاز دارن ایمیل زدم. ایشون هم بعد از چند ساعت این ایمیل رو در جواب من فرستادن:

Dear Sima,

Thanks for your email and your interest in joining my group.

Your credentials look very good and I would like to ask you to apply to
our PhD program and write my name as the suggested supervisor.

میخواستم بپرسم درمجموع این ایمیل تا چه حد امیدوار کننده است؟ آیا درصورت اینکه من اپلای کنم میتونم از بابت فاند مطمئن باشم؟ به نظر شما در جواب ایمیل ایشون من چی بگم؟ نیازی هست که درباره احتمال و میزان فاند ازشون سوال کنم؟

He/she probably send this email to other qualified applicants as well to make the final decision when you submitted your final application. It means no guarantee, but still a positive answer.
As he/she mentioned in his/her webpage that there is a project and looking for a PhD students, it means funds are available otherwise they wrote we need a PhD student for free!!! so I think you dont need to ask it in this stage, but up to you.
You can say thanks for his/her reply, great info and so on. maybe ask about the project and show your interests for knowing more about it, and probably ask about our chance compare to the professor's previous experiences (I personally dont like to ask the last one, but I think it is okay and if you like and will help you to apply or not, you can ask)

دوستان، یه استاد ایرانی بهم جواب داده...
I may be able to supervise you for the graduate program. Although your overall credential seems satisfactory, depending on the funding situation, other candidates and some other factors I will be able to give you a definite answer next year in the end of winter. If you are interested, please formally apply to the graduate admission program for September 2015 to start the process and list my name as the professor you are willing to work with.

به این جواب چند درصد میشه امید داشت؟ با توجه به اینکه قصد دارم برای بقیه اساتید اون دانشگاه هم ایمیل بزنم ....
و اینکه در مورد فاند همه اینجوری جواب میدن؟ لازمه توی ایمیل بعدی در مورد فاند بیشتر بپرسم؟ نمی دونم فاند داره و میگه رقابتیه یا اینکه کلا داشتن فاندش قطعی نیست!

سلام یه ایمیل به استاد دانشگاه imperial colledge زدم رنکینگش 5 است، پاسخی که داد اینه، می خواستم بینم این تمپلیته برا همه میدن یا واقعا از رزومه ام خوشش اومده ولی نمیتونه دانشچود بگیره؟

As of now I have many other commitments for next 1-2 years, I am really hard pressed for time for an additional PhD student. من یه ایمیل دریافت کردم که هزینه و فاندو اینجوری مطرح کرد استاد :
Visa tuition ~$23k
Living cost ~10k
Graduate / Teaching Assistantship ~$10k
Research Assistantship ~$8k
الان یعنی 15k باید خودم بدم؟ میتونم ازش بپرسم فاند بیشتر یا tuition waiver موجوده یا نه؟

Thank you for your interest and the reminder. My colleagues and I are in the midst of writing proposals for funding that if successful would allow us to support more graduate students as research assistants. The demand and competition for entrance into our structures program has grown tremendously even as we have increased entrance requirements. Generally, I have given my open RA positions to outstanding students who have taken my classes, and participated in an interview process I have establish to select the best student for a limited number of positions.


Your background and research interests are indeed very relevant to my research activities and to those of at least one of my colleagues. The next round of proposal results will not be known until May or June 2015. I am graduating two Ph.D. students this semester and do not plan on selecting any replacements until next fall, as I am focused on competing for new funding that would support additional RAs.


Acceptance into our department and graduate program are the first steps. Those decisions are made by a selection committee and the department. I wish you well in your important deliberations about your future, and the search for a suitable graduate program/research assistantship.
