Department of Applied Physics, Department of Electrical Engineering

The Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), the University of Cambridge and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich have strong ongoing research activities in photonics, ranging from fundamental investigations on quantum optics to applied research in photonic devices, circuits and systems. In the framework of national and European projects, each year several vacancies for PhD positions are available. In order to spot and attract the best brains for these positions, we invite potential PhD candidates to participate to an information and selection event taking place on May 30-June 1, 2011. During three days, you will hear about the latest development in photonics through lectures given by top research leaders, visit state-of-the-art laboratories, and have the possibility to present yourself and discuss available research projects.
About 15 students will be selected for participation. Travel, accommodation and living expenses will be fully reimbursed
Students, who have just finished or are about to complete a Master degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering, have a provable record of academic excellence (best 10% of their class) and are interested in a PhD in photonics, are welcome to apply.
TU/e is taking care of the application procedure for the Photonics PhD Event 2011.
