سلام دوستان
من اطلاعاتی در مورد زندگی و هزینه تو SFU از یکی از دانشجوهای کانادایی اونجا گرفتم که شاید به دردتون بخوره.
SFU has quite a nice campus. As a student you will have access to a fitness center (gym), there are sports you can get involved in if interested. Overall I like the campus, however not everyone does. It is a bit isolated from the city life, and can feel quite empty in the evenings and weekends as many people live off campus and go home at these times.
The culture in Burnaby and Vancouver is quite different from other areas in Canada. There is a lot of diversity and multiculturalism here. Lots of opportunities to meet people from different backgrounds. I have noticed there is a fair amount of students coming from Iran, India, and China at SFU. The Vancouver area has lots of hiking opportunities and some winter sports close by if you are interested in that. There are lots of different restaurants with food coming from many parts of the world. Majority of nightlife will be found in downtown Vancouver which is easy to access through public transit. The cost of living in the Vancouver area is quite high, but there is some variability depending on where you live. For renting a one bedroom apartment is around $1200/month within walking distance of campus. SFU does have residences, you may want to check online, the options for grad students. I lived on residence for 1 year and it cost about $700/month. Living within a short bus ride to campus can bring the cost down to maybe to ~ $800/month. If you go for shared living space or basement suite it can be as low as $500.
If you want to live in downtown Vancouver (more
nightlife if that is your interest) it will cost more ~ $1400/month, transit will be a 40 to 60 minute trip to campus
For food if you plan on cooking your meals depending on where you shop and what products you buy monthly grocery bills can range from $200 to $500. If you don't cook or would rather buy meals it will definitely cost more. If you are looking at staying on residence at SFU then they have a cafeteria near residence which has an option for $2000 for unlimited access for the semester (4 months ). lunch options on campus are fairly good as well. you can get a good lunch portion for $6 to $12. For transportation, SFU provides a student transportation card
$40per month included in tuition (for undergrads, I think its probably also for grads but not sure). If you want a car, it will be more a lot more, car insurance in BC can be $300/month. I hope that gives you an idea of the price of things. Id say overall you probably need at least $2000/month for the basic necessities.
