Customs Rules
Import regulations
1. For passengers arriving with goods purchased within the E.U. which are for personal use only
a. tobacco products (for passengers aged 18 and over) of up to
- 800 cigarettes;
- 400 cheroots;
- 200 cigars;
- 1kg of pipe/cigarette tobacco;
b. alcoholic beverages (for passengers aged 20 years and older) of up to
- 10 litres of spirits over 22%;
- 20 litres of intermediate products (e.g. fortified wine);
- 90 litres of wine (though no more than 60 litres of sparkling wine)
- 110 litres of beer.
Certain regulations apply to tobacco products imported from Czech Rep., Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia and Slovak Rep.
- Czech Rep. 200 cigarettes (until end 2007);
- Estonia (until end 2009) 200 cigarettes or 250 g of tobacco products. Regarding remaining tobacco products, see regulations concerning the other E.U. countries;
- 200 cigarettes for Hungary (until end 2008), Latvia (until end 2009), Lithuania (until end 2009), Poland (until end 2008), Slovak Rep. (until end 2008), and Slovenia (until end 2007). Regarding remaining tobacco products, see regulations concerning the other E.U. countries.
2. For passengers arriving from non-E.U. countries (including the Aland Islands, Canary Islands and similar territories)
If being a resident of Sweden, the right to duty and tax free importation only applies if
- the traveller arrives on a commercial flight; or
- the trip abroad exceeds 20 hours; or
- the alcohol has been taxed on the Aland Islands or in Norway;
a. tobacco products (for passengers aged 18 and over) of up to
- 200 cigarettes; or
- 100 cheroots; or
- 50 cigars;
- 250g of tobacco; or
- proportional selection of these tobacco products;
b. alcoholic beverages (for passengers aged 20 years and older) of up to
- 1 litre of spirits over 22%, or
- 2 litres of fortified wine or sparkling wine or proportional combination of the two; and
- 2 litres of non-sparkling wine; and
- quantity of beer, the value of which must be included in the total value of SEK 1,700.- of goods which may be imported;
c. other goods to up to the value of SEK 1,700.-.
Prohibited
- alcoholic beverages of over 60dgr (120dgr proof);
- performance enhancing drugs, except for medical or scientific use;
- potatoes from countries outside the E.U.
Arms and Ammunition regulations
Firearms and ammunition may not be brought into or taken out of Sweden without a permit. Before arrival, travellers must have applied for and been issued with an Importation Permit by the Swedish Police and if arriving from an E.U. country, they must also present a European Firearms Pass issued in the country of residence. Exempt from the Importation permit are
- holders of a Swedish Arms Licence;
- travellers from Denmark, Finland and Norway when bringing firearms for hunting or competition purposes, provided they have an Arms Licence issued in their own country and the arms are brought in for a period not exceeding three months.

Sweden is a member of the CITES Treaty.
Medicines (for medical reasons and personal use only, including medicine for pets travelling with a passenger which have been prescibed by a veterinary surgeon)
- for presciption drugs (not classified as narcotics)
- from a country within the E.E.A., the equivalent of one year use is allowed;
- from a country outside the E.E.A., the equivalent of three months use is allowed;
- for medicines classified as narcotics
- if the drugs are listed in the Medical Product Agency List II or III the equivalent of 5 days each time you enter Sweden is allowed;
- if the drugs are listed in the Medical Product Agency List IV or V the equivalent of three weeks use is allowed. If the traveller is a foreign resident and is in Sweden only temporarily, then they may bring enough for the duration of the stay to a max. of three months;

Foodstuffs permission to bring in foodstuffs of animal origin for private consumption is given only by the Swedish Board of Agriculture.
Pets
Dogs and cats (for detailed information visit
www.sjv.se) arriving from from Norway no restrictions apply if directly imported;
- arriving from all other countries are subject to special regulations (EC) No. 998/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council;
- under certain conditions, licenses for the import of puppies and kittens younger than three months, not vaccinated against rabies can be granted for animals born in rabies free countries. Contact the Pets Helpdesk at +46-771-223-223 or

- arriving from countries other than E.U. countries or the low-risk third countries mentioned below shall be kept in quarantine for at least 120 days. Thereafter the pet shall be kept isolated from other animals for 60 days Andorra, Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, Ascension Isl., Australia, Bahrain, Barbados, Bermuda, Canada, Cayman Isl., Croatia, Falkland Isl., Fiji, French Polynesia, Jamaica, Japan, Liechtenstein, Mauritius, Mayotte, Monaco, Montserrat, Netherlands Antilles, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Norway, San Marino, Singapore, St. Helena, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Pierre & Miquelon, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Switzerland, U.S.A., Vanuatu, Vatican City, Wallis Isl. & Futuna Isl.
- Pets may enter as passenger's checked baggage, in the cabin or as cargo.
Baggage Clearance regulations
Baggage is cleared at the first airport of entry in Sweden when disembarking. Exempt are those transiting from an international flight to another international flight.

Airport tax
No airport tax is levied on passengers upon embarkation at the airport.
