Hi people,
I am Sirous and I am a master holder of international project management at Stuttgart University of applied Sciences. My bachelor background was also in Civil Engineering. I would like to do my PhD in an American university and I have got couple of questions from current students or graduates of construction management at USA. I already appreciate the time and info. you share with me.
1. How do you describe the job market after graduation specifically for foreigners?
2. Is a PhD in US a pack of a “master + thesis” together? I mean in Europe PhD admitted guys directly start their course with a thesis but in US there is a year or a year and half courses to pass? Would you explain it a bit?
3. What if I apply for a master degree and start immediately my PhD afterwards, then do I have to pass the courses in PhD as well?
4. I wrote my master thesis in “success factors of energy performance contracts at US hospitals” with a cooperation of an American supervisor from Michigan state, is that an advantage for me that my thesis topic is about US? Or as it is in energy field a drawback for an Iranian?
5.Finally, what is the start point for a guy who wanna apply for a PhD at a US uni? Should I look for a supervisor first or shall I first apply for a program?
6. How do you describe the quantity of funds for construction management students either in master or a PhD level?
Thank you in advance,
Warm regards
