The University of Luxembourg invites applications for a Phd position available between the Luxembourg School of Finance (LSF) and the Systems Control Group (at LCSB), in the framework of the Doctoral Training Unit CriTiCS on Critical Transitions in Complex Systems.
Project title: Predicting financial crashes by time-series analysis
Supervisors: Prof. Dr. Roman Kräussl (LSF) and Prof. Dr. Jorge Goncalves (LCSB).
Start Date: ideally November-December 2017, flexible from now until September 2018.

Your Role
This position is inserted in the framework of the Doctoral Training Unit CriTiCS which encompasses 11 PhD positions and confronts the topic of critical transitions in complex systems within a range of disciplines including the areas of finance, physics, applied mathematics, biology and medicine.

Your Profile
- Hold (or being about to obtain) a Master degree in applied or financial mathematics, finance, theoretical physics, statistics or related fields.
- Strong mathematical background.
- We will only consider students that graduate in their top 20% undergraduate and Master’s class rank (equivalent to a UK first class degree).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and great commitment to research.
- Excellent working knowledge of English.
