Tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics at Clarkson University invites applications for a faculty position to support a new undergraduate program in Data Science and related topics that prepare mathematics students for careers in business, industry, and government. This position starts on July 1, 2018 at the rank of tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor. Candidates should be excellent teachers and researchers, with an innovative teaching record and experience in leading undergraduate research. We are seeking exceptionally qualified applicants with expertise in applied data science, mathematical modeling, financial mathematics, or as otherwise contributes to existing departmental strengths. Special attention will be paid to applicants who are highly interested in developing and promoting emerging programs founded on evidence-based research in STEM Education. A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or a related scientific field is required. The applicant should also have demonstrated excellence in research and teaching. Evidence in developing new programs and seeking funding to support scientific and educational research is preferred. Clarkson University encourages interdisciplinary research among its faculty and the Math Department has an especially strong tradition of collaborative work with other departments. Candidate who extend and enrich that collaborative tradition will find this environment to be particularly productive.
The successful candidate will be expected to become an excellent teacher across a broad spectrum of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The potential to introduce new courses in the department and the university will be a positive factor in the selection process.

· Effective instructor of undergraduate and graduate courses in the disciplinary area.
· Effective undergraduate and graduate student research mentoring.
· Ability to develop and maintain a collaborative, interdisciplinary research program with Clarkson and external collaborators.
