We are currently seeking to recruit two members of academic staff to Mathematics at the University of Exeter, closing date 15th December 2016.
Senior Lecturer (Education and Research) in Mathematics (Ref: R54623)
    https://jobs.exeter.ac.uk/hrpr_webre...91jNg&LANG=USA
Lecturer (Education and Research) in Mathematics (Ref: P54647)
    https://jobs.exeter.ac.uk/hrpr_webre...91jNg&LANG=USA

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer (Education and Research) (Ref: R54623) with interests in the development of rigorous mathematical analysis that resonates, or has potential to interact, with current research in mathematics within the department. This includes areas such as: probability theory, numerical analysis, analytical number theory, dynamical systems and ergodic theory.

We are also seeking to appoint a Lecturer (Education and Research) (Re: P54647) with interests in dynamical systems, initially for a fixed term of five years. We are particularly keen to recruit candidates who will interact with other researchers, both within Mathematics and with those who are applying Dynamical Systems methods to problems in natural sciences and engineering. This position has become available because of the recent award of an EPSRC fellowship Exploring instability in complex systems to Dr Jan Sieber. The expectation is that the ideal candidate will have complementary interests to the fellowship topic. Current research collaborations in this area include the EPSRC funded Centre for Predictive Modelling in Healthcare and collaborations with Exeter Climate Systems.

Appointments will be made within the Education and Research job family, for R54623 in the salary range £41,709 up to £55,998 on Grade G, depending on qualifications and experience, for P54647 in the salary range £33,943 up to £41,709 on Grade F, depending on qualifications and experience. There is a closing date of 15th December 2016 for both posts.

Mathematics http://emps.exeter.ac.uk/mathematics/ is a vibrant and successful Department within the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences at the University of Exeter that was recently rated the 8th best place to study Mathematics in the Guardian newspaper. For several years there has been sustained investment in both academic staff and infrastructure to provide a catalyst for significant growth in both research activity and student experience.

The University of Exeter is a Russell Group University in the top one percent of institutions globally. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) the University of Exeter was ranked 16th nationally with 98% of its research rated as being of international quality. Exeter is ranked 7th in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016, 9th in the Guardian University Guide 2016 and 10th in The Complete University Guide 2016.
In the Department of Mathematics we believe in creating an inclusive working environment that attracts the best students and academics from all over the world - an environment that is fairer, more supportive, and respectful of individuals. The Department of Mathematics holds a Silver Athena SWAN award in recognition of their commitment to providing equality of opportunity and advancing the representation of women in STEM/M subjects.

Applicants must be qualified to PhD level in mathematics or a closely related discipline and be able to demonstrate a strong potential for research leadership with a track record in refereed publications and (for R54623) a record of significant grant capture. The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels on a range of Mathematics programmes.

You may also wish to consult our web site at http://emps.ex.ac.uk/mathematics for further details of the Department. Our Exeter Academic initiative supports high performing academics to achieve their potential and develop their career.

Applicants are encouraged to contact the Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean (College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences), Prof Ken Evans (tel: 01392 723645, email: K.E.Evans@exeter.ac.uk) to discuss the posts further. Informal enquiries can be made to Prof Peter Ashwin (tel: 01392 725225, email: P.Ashwin@exeter.ac.uk). Job descriptions and person specifications are available via the web links above.

The University of Exeter is an equal opportunity employer which is 'Positive about Disabled People'. Whilst all applicants will be judged on merit alone, we particularly welcome applications from groups currently underrepresented in the workforce.
