The Sustainable Built Environment National Research Centre (SBEnrc), headquartered at Curtin University, is the successor to the CRC for Construction Innovation and is Australia’s national centre for construction research. The Centre has earned a national and international reputation for delivering leading research outcomes through collaborative projects and active dissemination involving industry and government, employers and employees across the building and infrastructure sectors.
The Australian research supervisor for the two Masters by Research/ Master of Philosophy students is likely to be Keith Hampson. Keith serves as the Centre’s Chief Executive Officer and is Professor of Construction Innovation at Curtin University. He has a 15 year history of leading research teams in improving productivity and sustainability in the built environment and currently leads an international task group focussing on R&D Investment and Impact.

Value
The successful candidates will receive a stipend of $25,392 (2014 rate) which will be indexed annually for a duration of 2 years. This scholarship is tax exempted. For the successful International student, Curtin University will waiver the tuition fees for 2 years.
In addition to the stipend, recipients are also allocated a travel allowance towards their research activity.

PhD Scholarships in Nanomedicine and Bio-medical Engineering
An international PhD Scholarship is available for outstanding students
to start at Macquarie University in beautiful Sydney. The prestigious
Scholarships (maximum $29,849 per annum (AU) based on your background)
are for up to three years tax free. The Scholarship application
deadline is the 1st of July, 2015.
You will have an interest in materials chemistry, self-assembly,
material characterisation methods and nanomedicine and be expected
work closely with our team on porous nanoparticles and their
interaction with proteins in living systems. It is hoped that the
candidate will help advance our understanding of protein corona
formation on nanoparticles, as well as in the synthesis of
nanoparticles, such as quantum dots, up-conversion, mesoporous silica
and carbon based nanoparticles.
Experience with the characterization of nanoparticles using DLS, TEM,
SEM, AFM, XRD and the characterization of their surface properties
would be highly desirable. Experience in the life sciences such as
with the manipulation of nanoparticles in cell culture studies would
be beneficial.
The student will be expected to interact and collaborate with the
wider research community at the Centre for Nanoscale Biophotonics
(www.cnbp.org.au). A Master's by research degree or equivalent with
clear evidence of research outputs such as a list of research
publications is a requirement. You should have an average IELTS of 6.5
and above or the equivalent result in TOEFL. Other eligibility

The Vision Science group in collaboration with interdisciplinary Photonics Laboratories at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to pursue a project on using the latest advancements in digital technology to develop a portable ocular imaging device. The incumbent will be exposed to a range of challenges including design (hardware), programming and trialing the end product. The ideal candidate would have (i) experience in common programming languages such as Matlab, Python, C++, java (ii) understands concepts of Java programing, (iii) acute understanding of the biological questions being addressed by the supervisors; (iv) experience with optics; and (iv) experience and desire to disseminate the image analysis know-how through workshops, collaboration, and international consortia. The PhD candidate is expected to innovate novel image analysis methods when the need arises, and share the methods through peer-reviewed publications and open source channels. This position will suit a candidate with a background in computer science, software engineering, medical imaging, physics or related field. Having artificial intelligence knowledge is a big plus. Full scholarships for both domestic and international students are available on a competitive basis.
The scholarships generally cover full tuition fees and provide an excellent tax-free annual living allowance (around $28,000)
For highly qualified candidates, additional competitive supplementary scholarships from external agencies e.g. CSIRO are available ($5,000-10,000 per annum)
Other opportunities to earn and gain experience include teaching assistantships (tutor/lab demonstrator/marker) available at the university
