The 2.000.000th Erasmus-student from Metropolia!
The latest Erasmus figures show that the 2.000.000 Erasmus student target has been reached in the academic year 2008/09. The European Commission organised "a competition" to select one Erasmus student from each participating country to symbolise the 2.000.000th student.
The Commission received 96 proposals from 31 countries. The chosen students will be invited to the Erasmus conference in Lund from 5th to 6th October. Ms Jenni Silvennoinen from the DP in European Management was chosen to represent Finland. She was on the Erasmus work placment in Germany the whole academic year 2008/09. And the feedback from the employer was excellent. Congratulations Jenni!
Mobility is one of the priorities for Erasmus actions. Student and teaching staff mobility play a key role in establishing the European Higher Education Area. Institutions participating in Erasmus are called upon to increase both student mobility for study and placement in order to achieve the target of 3 million Erasmus students by 2012, and increase teaching and other staff mobility.
