Students wishing to study in New Zealand are required to show that they have funds of at least NZD15,000 per year to support their maintenance for the duration of their course.

In your case, that would be NZD45,000 for a total of 3 years, excluding tuition fees.

According to Immigration Instructions set out below:

U3.20 Sufficient funds for maintenance while in New Zealand

U3.20.20 Funds held by or on behalf of the student

a Where funds are held by or on behalf of the student, immigration officers must be satisfied that the funds are from a genuine source and are genuinely available for the purposes of the applicant’s requirements.

b When determining whether a student has sufficient funds to maintain themselves throughout their stay in New Zealand, immigration officers may consider the period of time for which funds have been held by the student and the student’s ability to access funds while in New Zealand

We understand that your mother is sponsoring your studies and has provided bank statements which showed a balance of Rials 815,340,000. The information in the bank statements is not very clear as we could not see when the lump sum deposits of Rial 164,405,176, 150,000,000 x 2, 1,000,000 & 500,000,000 were credited into the account. However, we note that prior to these deposits, the balance in the account was only Rial 14,405,176.

We do not know the history or source of the funds which were deposited into your mother’s account. You will need to show evidence of the source of these funds.

In summary, INZ will need to be satisfied that you have sufficient funds and these funds will be available to you to cover your studies in New Zealand. We currently hold concerns that you may not have sufficient funds to cover your tuition fees and maintenance for the length of your course.

In regards to the funds requirements, this can be met if you are able to show that you have these funds either in the form of a bank draft in your name or opening and depositing the amount (NZD45,000) in a New Zealand bank.

Students wishing to study in New Zealand are required to show that they have funds of at least NZD15,000 per year to support their maintenance for the duration of their course.

In your case, that would be NZD45,000 for a total of 3 years, excluding tuition fees.

"You may be asked to provide evidence of the source of funds for deposits of NZ$1000 or more."
