• Students who have already commenced postgraduate studies, or students transferring with credit exemptions and/or advanced standing, are not eligible.

How to Apply?
Application Procedure

• No separate application for a Sydney Achievers International Scholarship is necessary.
• An Application for Admission to the University of Sydney in 2013 will constitute an application for a Scholarship.
• All applications meeting the selection and eligibility criteria resulting in unconditional Offers of Admission will be automatically considered.
• The deadline for receipt of applications and complete supporting documentation (academic and English language proficiency results) is 15 January 2013 for Semester 1, 2013, and 30 June 2013for Semester 2, 2013.
• Successful candidates will receive an Offer of a Scholarship with the Offer of Admission.
• Applications received after these deadlines will not be considered.
• Candidates applying through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) will be considered in January 2013.

Admission selection and scholarship allocation guidelines
for 2012 intake
Admission selection

Admission into a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) at the University of South Australia is based on meeting:
1) the admission criteria; and
2) the minimum English language entry requirements (International applicants only).
Due to the increasing demand for places, admission is a competitive process, based on academic merit and research area as determined by the quality assessment model (see below).
All applications submitted to the University for admission into a Higher Degree by Research will therefore undergo an eligibility assessment and quality assessment.
Note. The University reserves the right to decline an applicant based on appropriate supervision being unavailable.
Admission criteria

Applications must meet the admission criteria as set out in Section 1 of the Academic Regulations for Higher Degrees by Research, which can be found at: www.unisa.edu.au/policies/policies/resrch/res10-regs.asp#1.
The equivalence of international qualifications to University of South Australia admission criteria is determined primarily using NARIC (the National Recognition Information Centre for the United Kingdom). NARIC provides information on international qualifications from over 180 countries worldwide. For further information see: www.naric.org.uk/ . NOOSR (National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition, see http://aei.gov.au/AEI/Qualifications...mation/CEP.htm) will also be used to determine equivalence for specific countries.
Honours equivalence is determined according to Appendix 1 of this document.

1PhD position in Social Psychology

Description
Zeppelin University offers two PhD positions, one in the anthropology of education and one in social psychology to develop and implement an interdisciplinary research project concerning the underachievement of boys in schools. The project will explore this topic by means of taking both an anthropological (class room interaction, doing gender, emotional work) and a social psychological perspective (self-concept, self- regulation, motivation). Applicants are expected to work closely with Gertraud Koch and Anja Achtziger and will take responsibility for one or more major aspects of the project. Applicants should be highly motivated to conduct interdisciplinary research in education ? being interested both in qualitative and quantitative aspects.

These positions are available from October 1, 2012, with an initial appointment for 4 months. Within these 4 months, we will give the applicants dedicated support in their application for scholarships in order to extend the appointment to 3 years.

5 PhD position in GRK1253: Processing of affective stimuli: from the molecular basis to the emotional experience

DescriptionThe cooperation of renowned research groups from philosophy, psychology, psychiatry, neurology, anatomy, and physiology will allow the RTG´s doctoral students to develop excellent and internationally visible interdisciplinary research projects within the Affective Sciences. Based on the realized interdisciplinary approach and the expertise of the RTG researchers the projects of the RTG will converge on three levels, each addressed by human, clinical and animal research: (1) self-regulation, self-control and dynamic of emotional processes, (2) emotional determinants of normal and pathological behavior, and (3) neurobiological basis of emotional reactions (especially serotonergic and dopaminergic systems). A special interest hereby is to identify interactions between these levels. The philosophy project provides a theoretical framework for the empirical-experimental projects, and itself focuses on the epistemological, anthropological and ethical dimension of research on emotion.
