Graduate Research Assistant Position in Data Center Networks
The High-Speed Networking Lab (
http://eeweb.poly.edu/chao) at Polytechnic Institute of New York
University, led by Prof. H. Jonathan Chao, is offering two graduate research assistants to qualified incoming
Ph.D students to conduct research in data center networks. Data centers have evolved to be one of the most
critical infrastructures in the Internet. Most of the major large-scale applications rely on data centers to
provide computing, storage, and various services. In this exciting and yet challenging area, we focus on the
design of the data center and cloud computing systems, including network virtualization, abstraction, traffic
engineering, resilience, security, etc. We have close collaborations with industry, including IBM and Bell Labs,
and our research results have great potential to be applied in practical systems. Our team has setup a cloud
computing testbed with commodity servers and switches to experiment with a distributed network control
and centralized management system (see the picture below).
