PhD scholarship in mechatronics
Ghent University, Netherlands
Deadline: Nov 26, 2015 12:00
Job description:
You will perform research in one of the following fields (depending on your personal interest and ambitions): reconstruction of forces and torques in mechatronic systems; application of inverse problem methods and system models in the design, control, characterization and monitoring of drive trains and mechatronic systems; or the development of novel design methods for mechatronic systems.

This work is partly theoretical (for example defining novel engineering concepts, including performing calculations and simulations) and partly experimental (designing test setups, preforming measurements to validate the concepts and ideas experimentally).

Report the scientific results to the project responsible, on international conferences and in journal publications.

The job includes supporting tasks in the domain of mechatronic systems education.

We offer
PhD scholarship, starting with a contract for 1 year, extendable to 4 years.
Opportunities to develop your professional skills (participation to doctoral schools, visiting international conferences).
Access to high-end research infrastructure.
The research takes place at UGent campus Kortrijk and UGent campus Zwijnaarde.

We are looking for:
Candidates with Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering or Engineering Technology
You have good knowledge on mechanical and/or electrical energy techniques and drive trains.
You have good knowledge on design tools for mechanical design and system design.
You have experience with programming.
You have a broad interest in engineering, technology and research.
You can work independently and in group
You have good knowledge of Dutch and English.
