Dr Amir Etemad-ShahidiPhD, MSc., BSc.Research expertise
Senior Lecturer, Griffith School of EngineeringContact details for Dr Amir F Etemad-Shahidi
Dr. Etemad-Shahidi has more than ten years of experience in teaching and research. He has a strong background in fluid mechanics and water engineering. His fields of specialisation are Coastal and Oceanographic Engineering, Environmental Fluid Dynamics and Hydroinformatics. He has published several peer reviewed papers in different well known journals (e.g. ASCE Hydraulic Engineering, J. Geophysical Research, Limnology Oceanography, Marine and Freshwater Research, Dynamics of Atmosphere and Oceans, and Environmental Fluid Mechanics). In another set of publications (in Hydrology Research, Ocean Dynamics, J. of Coastal Research, J. Hydroinformatics, Environmental modelling & assessment and Maritime eng.), he has expanded his expertise by applying different numerical models to simulate transport processes in lakes, reservoirs and estuaries. He is currently conducting research on the modelling of waves and their interaction with structures using both process-based and artificial intelligence models. This has led to several peer reviewed publications (in Coastal engineering, Ocean Eng., ASCE Waterways, Port and Coastal Engineering, J. Coastal Research, Applied Ocean Research and J. Hydroinformatics). In these studies, he has contributed to the field of coastal environment by carrying out a comprehensive investigation of different approaches used for simulation of coastal processes and discussing the advantages and disadvantages of them.Current teaching areas
- Advanced Coastal Engineering
- Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics
- Civil Engineering Design Project
