I gave IELTS and I got 8,I like the exam,but as I'm not familiar with TOEFL at all,I don't say anything about choosing the exam,but based on my own exprience I advise you to choose TOEFL if you're going to apply for US,since more universities in US require TOEFL,so you can keep your options open
