GRADUATE STUDENT AT THE RESEARCH SCHOOL FOR INTERDISCIPLINARY MATHEMATICS
at the Department of Mathematics at Linköping University
Duties
The education at the research school is aimed at students with a strong interest in mathematics, who also are interested in active participation in problems from an applied subject/science. The goal is a PhD in mathematics with a broad applied/interdisciplinary profile.
The subject area of the thesis will be one of the four that exist within the department of mathematics: applied mathematics, mathematical statistics, optimization, or scientific computing. The project will be chosen by the student in cooperation with the research supervisors of the department. The presently possible projects can be found at the web site of the research school:

The duties involve graduate studies, and tutorial teaching at 20 percent of the working hours.
Qualifications
Applicants should have studied a substantial component of mathematics for their first degree. Students will be expected to have demonstrated the potential for mathematical studies in graduate education and be highly motivated.

Appointment time
The appointment is given for one year at a time, and will be renewed yearly subject to successful performance of duties. The programme corresponds to four years full-time studies. Normally, the studies are combined with 20 percent tutorial teaching, which gives a period of employment of five years. The total period of employment cannot exceed eight years.
Starting date
According to agreement.
Salary
The commencing salary for a graduate student is at present 21 450 SEK/month. The subsequent salary will be based on locally agreed salary increments.
