Graduate student: Acoustic coupling in supercritical flows
University of Waterloo, Canada

We are seeking a highly-qualified student (M.Sc. or Ph.D) for graduate work in a newly formed numerical research group (as of January 2016) at the University of Waterloo in Canada. Preferred start date would be in May or September 2016.

The student should be interested in conducting exciting research on supercritical turbulent flows under acoustic perturbations using direct numerical and large-eddy simulations. The research thrust lies in understanding the fundamental physics using high-performance computing in order to contribute to the fields of rocket propulsion, automotive injection and novel energy systems. This work will be conducted in close collaboration with top European and American partners.

An academic background in computational physics, mechanical engineering or applied mathematics is desired; strong programming and analytical skills are a must. Funding is available.
