The Department of Mathematical Sciences is seeking to appoint a new professor who will extend and enhance its strength in Mathematical Analysis. Applications are particularly encouraged in Partial Differential Equations, Geometric Analysis, Calculus of Variations, Harmonic Analysis, Geometric Measure Theory, Ergodic Theory and Operator Theory, or a related field of Mathematical Analysis.
Applicants must have a strong research vision and a track-record of engagement within their Department and with the wider mathematics community. A key role will be to provide leadership and to help shape the wider research strategy of the analysis group and of the department and the university as a whole. Candidates should also have a strong interest in pursuing excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and in supervising graduate students.
The successful applicant will join a vibrant department with an EPSRC-funded Centre for Doctoral Training ‘Statistical Applied Mathematics at Bath’ (SAMBa), and various cross disciplinary centres such as the Centre for Nonlinear Mechanics, Centre for Mathematical Biology and the Centre for Networks and Collective Behaviour. Bath also hosts the recently founded Institute for Mathematical Innovation (IMI). The superb location of the UNESCO-designated World Heritage City of Bath offers outstanding facilities and an excellent quality of life.
