Faculty of Economics and Business Administration
The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEWEB) aim to combine high quality education with excellent research. The Faculty offers three Dutch taught Bachelor’s programmes (Economics and Business Economics, Econometrics and Operations Research and Business Administration), one English taught Bachelor’s programme (International Business Administration), eight English taught Master’s programmes and thirteen postgraduate programmes. The faculty has several research groups with an outstanding international reputation. FEWEB accommodates approximately 5000 students and 1500 postgraduate students. Over 500 staff members are employed at the Faculty.
The Departments The Logistics section of the Department of Information, Logistics and Innovation is engaged in research in supply chain problems that relate to best practice analysis and performance management, network design and tactical/operational distribution planning, and to coordination strategies and incentive alignment. The 9 staff members of the Logistics section are involved in empirical research and in modelling research in a national and international context. The Department of Marketing has 20 staff members. Research in the Department of Marketing is oriented towards Marketing Strategy with a focus on Innovation and Cross-Cultural Marketing Research. Research projects in the department relate to understanding consumers’ attitudes, needs, behaviours, and adoption decisions in the increasingly dynamic national and international environment.
The PhD positions
There are two positions available. We are looking for two candidates with a strong background in logistics, supply chain management, marketing, operations research, and preferably a combination of these disciplines.
Position 1 is focused on e-commerce customer service strategies. It aims at understanding online consumer preferences and behaviour and how customer service instruments may influence consumer behaviour, as identifying the resulting implications on logistics, customer service performance and commercial benefits. Project 2 aims at understanding how consumer demand can be affected by online assortment variety, which strategies should be followed for stock location and allocation in a multi-channel supply chain, and at developing assortment pricing strategies to optimize revenues. The impact of cross-border retail, multi-channel management and supply chain integration is essential to both projects.
Requirements
Candidates are expected to have an excellent university MPhil or MSc degree. For both projects we are looking for candidates with an MSc in logistics, supply chain management, marketing, econometrics, economics, or operations research. Candidates need to be willing to work in a multi-disciplinary context. They possess a proven affinity for marketing issues and empirical data analysis (surveys, transaction data). A good understanding of the Dutch language is preferred.
Further particulars

Salary
The salary is € 2.042,- gross per month during the first year and increases to € 2.612,- gross per month during the fourth year.
