Couple of things:
1- Tsinguha is not anything close to MIT ! Kids at MIT know how to think and create new stuff and none of these chinese kids know how to think ! Tsinguha is only good for copying and passing exams
2- Majority of Iranian kids dont do well in real world business or either business schools. If you look at the MBAs and DBAs from Iran, Almost all of them focus on finance. Why? Because marketing and other stuff are for the kids who can talk and be street smart. Also with a PhD chances are very low that you end up being a very good business person. Business in the US is nothing but links and connections. It is about who knows you and who you know.
3- I make way more than 100K per year and I solve a lot fo deff equ for my company and clients but I never show them what I do or even bother explaining to them
4- If you dont do your PhD in any of the top 10 schools chances are very low that you end up finding a job at even a 3rd tier school. Kids who did PhDs can comment on this. So either dont do PhD or if you do it, you would better doing it in a very good school and under a famous faculty member
5- I worked in Silicon valley for about 1 year back in 2012. I never met a single Iranian who had a start up or had a PhD that was thinking about a start up. All of them were so focused and siloed that I had even a hard time maintaining a conversation with them
